OpenAI Ads Manager setup, step by step.
How to open an OpenAI Ads Manager account for your store, set up billing, and give someone else access to run your ads. Every step links to the OpenAI help center page it comes from, checked October 22, 2026.
Before you start: self-serve Ads Manager is for businesses whose legal entity, the one that advertises and is billed, is based in a country on OpenAI's availability list.[2] Ads Manager is in beta.[5] Have one person create the account, then invite everyone else. If your business already has an account, ask its administrator to invite you.[1]
Step 1. Sign in at ads.openai.com
Go to ads.openai.com and select Login or Sign up. Use the OpenAI account you use for ChatGPT, or create one.[1]
Step 2. Start with your website, or skip to Ads Manager
OpenAI offers two paths:[1]
- Enter your website URL. Ads Manager uses your site to draft a first ad and campaign, which you review. Ads created this way go live once they pass review, so if you aren't ready to advertise, pause the campaign and check its status.[1]
- Skip this step and go straight to Ads Manager, then create a campaign when you're ready.[1]
Step 3. Enter your advertiser details carefully
The advertiser name you enter fills three fields at first: Account Name, Brand Name (shown with your ads in ChatGPT) and Legal Name (used for billing and business verification).[1]
Check your country or region, currency and time zone before you submit. OpenAI says these can't be changed after the account is created.[1] Your billing currency also sets your minimum daily budget: $25 for USD, 15 for EUR or GBP, 25 for CAD or AUD, and so on.[3]
Step 4. Set up billing
Open Billing and complete the prompts: a billing profile (business name, business address, invoice delivery email) and a credit card. Campaigns can't deliver until billing is set up.[1][5]
- Your bank may show a temporary authorization hold when you add a card. It isn't a charge, but it can stay visible for 8 days or longer.[5]
- Billing is postpay: your card is charged when spend reaches your account's payment threshold, and any balance left at the end of the month.[5]
Step 5. Confirm your logo and names
Go to Settings → General to check your logo, Account Name, Brand Name and Legal Name. Use your registered business name as the Legal Name.[1] Note that changing the Brand Name later triggers a review and pauses ad serving until it's approved.[1]
Step 6. Invite the people who'll run your ads
Go to Settings → Users, select Invite, enter their email address and choose a role:[1]

Invite them to your existing advertiser account so you both work in the same account.[1] They don't need to create a new account to join yours.[1]

Step 7. Review your first campaign
If you created a campaign during signup, review it in Ads Manager. If you skipped that, create one now. Check the details and make sure setup and reviews are complete before launching.[1]
- A daily budget is an average over seven days: one day can spend up to twice it, and a seven-day period up to seven times it.[4]
- Some new self-serve accounts can at first advertise only in their home country.[3]

How do I give an outside team access to my OpenAI Ads Manager account?
In Ads Manager, go to Settings → Users, select Invite, enter their email address and choose a role: Admin, Member or Viewer.
Which role should I give the people who run my ads?
OpenAI describes Member as able to create and manage campaigns, and Admin as full access. Member is enough to run campaigns; you can choose Admin if you prefer.
Can I change my ad account's country, currency or time zone later?
No. OpenAI says the country or region, currency and time zone can't be changed after the account is created, so check them before you submit.
Do I need billing set up before ads run?
Yes. Billing must be set up in Ads Manager before campaigns can deliver.
What is the minimum daily budget?
$25 for an account billed in USD. Other billing currencies have their own minimum, for example 15 EUR or 15 GBP.
